aspire-
verb
direct one’s hopes or ambitions toward achieving something
rise high; tower
what does this mean to you? what do you aspire to do? how can you RISE high?~ what do you wish to achieve? what will you do to make it happen? collectively, WE can wish to achieve so many things….and can use our voices to make things happen. peace is high on my list. while talking to a friend yesterday, i was telling her about the deer that have been stopping by to say hi and have a little bite to eat just outside our back yard. as we were talking, a deer appeared and was walking towards me from the woods. she said, “ you know deer are a sign of peace”….. okay…. i’ll take it! bring on the peace~
i’ve followed ZAK FOSTER for a while now and continue to check his website for the latest now that i’m not on insta. this new work is gorgeous, inspiring and spot on. i am so ready to grab my tin of threads, my scissors, and some fabric scraps to create a quilt of my own.
quoted from his website: “THE NEW APOCALYPSE is an ongoing body of work which radically reimagines a future where humanity manages to side-step Armageddon. I’m fascinated by the human tendency towards fatalistic stories of collapse and decay. Why isn’t humanity telling itself stories of progress and enlightenment instead?” click here to see this body of work!!
who is inspiring YOU?? will you share in the comments?
my friend hannah and i made an eclectic collaborative playlist and when i listen, it makes me feel good. have a listen if you want to~
in my recent ‘resilience’ post, i shared that my friend jean is part of an exhibition at the museum in liberty ny. i wanted to share this image with you so that you see her gorgeous work on display.
if you are into art journaling, or writing in a journal, i have a prompt for you inspired by reading this post from india this morning. “remember when”……. using any mediums, collage, photo images, etc., bring a memory back to life in your journal. pull it from the depths of your memory container. write it out, draw it out, paint it out…. whatever wants to come through! no rules, no overthinking. you could also paint a large painting based on a memory! the painting below, “remember the birds,” evolved as i remembered a sweet time with my daughter and our jaunt to lea island in my little boat. as we were heading to the island, a huge flock of sea birds came along side of us and flew with us to the island. we had the whole island to ourselves that day, except for a volunteer with audubon who was fencing off a newly found sea turtle nest. my daughter helped her with the task, then we spent the rest of our time playing in the water, collecting shells and picking up trash. it was a perfect day. one that is tattooed on my heart for eternity.
“remember the birds”
speaking of memories, my friend kelsey, who i met when i was at riverview station in asheville, creates beautiful paintings, many of which are based on memories. i love her work.
